A detail from one of the many buildings which make up University College London, a

constituent college of The University of London - One of my Alma Maters - but what do

you think of the photograph?

nick, i think i see what you are trying to do with the lines and perhaps the tones, but its just not an interesting enough scene to work for me, sorry.

Thank you Rich, thats the sort of effect that I wanted. The building also reminded me of some of the paintings from the de Stijl movement of the 1920s and 1930s.

Regards, Nick.

Nick, Well I do like the the hard lines and soft toning it gives that need to look for more beyond the doors of the minds eye.

Cracking shot well done.

Very intriguing image.

There is something un easy about the composition which keeps the viewer wanting to see more.

This could be a shot a from film being followed up with a tilt movement of camera toward very top and then a pan towards left to create a wider angle towards the gate and use a zoom to create a close up on a character's face!

Dynamic!

Cheers

Nick, I think it's great. Strong lines, good tones and the door giving it human interest and scale.

It reminds me of Brunel University, somewhere Kenneth Horne whould have described as "not so much red brick as white tile"

Well done. Pete

Thank you Richard, Misha and Peter.

My inspirations for the framing of this photograph, were the Counter-Compositions of Theo van Doesburg.

Kind regards, Nick.

Nicely done.

Oh yeah...I remember this piece and you've done it just great!

It also reminds me of some of "Piet Mondarian" work. Can't put a finger on one piece but the linings resemble some of his "compositions" series. Maybe if we turn "Composition with red, black, blue and yellow" piece 135 degree clockwise!

Cheers

Board-marked concrete finish was all the rage after Le Corbusier introduced it. Unfortunately quite a bit of London got rebuilt with that as its sole claim to distinction but without his flair. There are bits of the South Bank....

I like the lights here but I think the concrete texture needs to be more in evidence. Maybe it is in the original.
