guyscrivner 0 Posted April 10, 2005 This image was taken on an very overcast and rainey day. I used PS to dodge and burn areas of the photo to balance the colors. A bit of saturation was also added. The building is located on a high cliff overlooking the ocean. That is the reason for the white band in the center of the picture. olof 0 Posted April 10, 2005 Just love it, great light an dgreen tones. The only thing that bothers me is a very slight tilt to the right, I know it's just a feeling and I dont really know why. But stil great picture. /Olof Link to comment
Greg Pichnej 0 Posted April 10, 2005 This shot grabs attention and seems to freeze a contemplative mood in 2 dimentions. Well, it does to me. 7/7 Link to comment
james lissimore 0 Posted April 10, 2005 I love Whidbey Island, one of my favourite places to shoot. Great photo, it really captures the mood of the Fort Casey area. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 11, 2005 Very nice - you're saying the white band is ocean? Would have been nice to actually tell it's water, but that's doesn't bother me much. I like the light in this quite a bit, and the placement of the house is near perfect. Well done! Link to comment
guyscrivner 0 Posted April 11, 2005 to you all for your positive feedback on this image. Kathy, I am going to attach an image that might help explain that center band. When I took the picture I was near ground level and using a 28mm lens. This shot was taken far to the right of point A. This angle permitted me to compose the shot with fairly equal top and bottom balance. You can see that at this angle you would be looking out over the ocean as is shown in point B. and the center band would then just be the dull white mist hanging over the ocean.Olof, perhaps it is the layout of the terrain combined with the 28mm lens that gives it the feel you mentioned. Thanks again to you all. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 11, 2005 yup, I see now -- and I like this photo more for it :) The other is nice, but this one is far better. Again - well done! Link to comment
corbin 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Beautiful use of horizontal spaces. Love where you placed the house, against the brighter sky. Link to comment
