After a couple of comments I decided to try cropping the earlier

version of this image down a bit... I'm interested in any opinons.

The uncropped version was posted for critiques a few days ago, and can

be found in the same folder.

almost there; crop off a tad more off the right (no parking lot/cars please), and to balance the aspect ration, include more from the left side. a very placid scene, and the lighting--the tungten, looks like, colour balance exudes warmth to offset the cool water--is what makes this work so well, in my opinion. btw, this is in the "digitally enhanced" folder... i dont see any signs of manipulation. either way, a darn good pic

Hi Acer,

Thanks for the comments - I'll try shaving a bit more off the right hand side. I don't know if I can just shift it left any more, I think I'll start to get artifacts from the lights... I can always just take a similar slice from the bottom to maintain the aspect ratio...

As far as the digitally modified folder goes - take a close look at the benches and at their reflections...

Thanks again!

hi warren. i agree with acer v. just a tiny bit, say 10%, off the right side would eliminate the strident brightness of the remaining bit of car, but would preserve the curb at water's edge. nice photo. i also enjoy this photo on one of your other folders. the repose in that second image is amazing. so tranquil.

I took a look at it in the Gimp, and decided that I might be better to just paint out the really bright highlights... I've just reloaded the image here... Is this better?

yup! this is exactly what i had envisioned for this picture. looks great! nothing to distract from what's central to why one would take the picture.

I love subtlety. This is a good picture. I almost regret not seeing the evolution as evidenced by the comments on your photo.

This is a good shot.

Did you take two separate exposures for clone source, or hand-clone out the people on the bench or hand-clone in some reflections?

Pretty good. I love subtle digital manipulation.

Does the 'large' version of this give a broken JPG for everyone else, or is it only me? I've noticed a lot of images on photo.net are broken this last week or two...
