I see the tree..so where in the reflection is the camera? Also, is watching icicles drip kinda like watching grass grow? Things must be really tough where it gets cold in the winter...

Thank you Julio, Stefan, Jay, David and Cherlyn.

Can someone tell me what Julio is saying so I know because it looks like he is asking a question to me? If you can help in this way Thank you.

David, The Camera is in my hands on this side of the Water Drop in the dark under the roof line and does not show up in the Water. What you are seeing is the actual scenery that is on the other side of the water drop, and the reason the picture has a blue look to it is because of the blue sky as the background.

Also this is not an Icicle David, the whole thing that you see is Water that I froze with a shutter speed of 8000, there is no ice anywhere in the picture. Not sure if you are trying to joke and have fun here or not but if you don't like the picture that is fine, do you like Birds? I have lots of those. ;o) lol.

I am just trying new things as others only think I take pictures of Birds.

Take care

I like reading what you wrote about this being water that you froze with your shutter speed, this is another rare capture. I love seeing the reflecting light and tree. The waters form to me looks like a seal playing with a ball. The color and tones overall are very beautiful. The waters capture is excellent and makes such an interesting form .

Julio was right it was difficult as I was standing on the arms of a chair again to get the picture, and getting My lens a bit wet too. ;o)

This is an amazing picture and I'm grateful that you explained how you did it. Somehow it makes it more real and we are curious bunch. Love the colours, the lighting you acheived and it is super to see the tiny landscape in the drop.

Means "Even more difficult". In the circus, after the acrobats make a complex maneuver, the (er... host?) will announce with that phrase an even more complex maneuver that is going to be done now.

That said, I love this picture.

Great shot Dave.

It is the reflections in the droplet which make this a better than the rest drop shot. Harold Edgerton would be mighty proud of this shot!

A well deserved - 7/7

Thank you very much Nicholas for what you have said. To tell you the truth I am still a bit Puzzled by this "maria v. szulc" person and her 2/2 rating of this picture, I know its not everyones cup of tea but I harding think it is Bad. To me it is an Image inside an image and is very good, be nice if it was even sharper but I am not an Photoshop wiz so it is what it is. The Water was coming off the house very fast that day from the melting snow I was lucky to get it the way it is.

Anyway I thank you for your comments and time. Take care Friend.

WOW! Looked much more mundane on the thumbnail. Your capture of the landscape reflection IN the droplet is special. Outstanding image!! 6/7

Would have given the photo a 6/7, but will give a 7/7 to compensate for the 2/2 given my maria who has this penchant for giving low ratings. I'm a sufferer at her hands too.

As for your photo i find it very creative and it does conjure up freudian thoughts in my mind. Phallic symbolism?

Please would you be so kind as to take a bad shot as I'm running out of 7s.

OUT STANDING!

How did you take the shot?

and with what?

Is this black ink?

Photoshop wiz tip If you can get hold of the filter (Focalblade 1.03)as this is a shaping tool and is the best on the market.

Hope this helps.

Raichard if you look up above at my first response back you will see what it is and how I took it, Its all Natural by the way.

Try to figure out why you got the 2/2. Here is my screenshot. First impression, a hand with one finger up! I scrolled my mouse up, found 3 trees. Someone else might scroll the mouse wheel down. A 7/7 is about right for me.

Yongbo, You made me LOL,

I guess it is my own fault for making the picture a bit to long, On my screen it does not look that small and I see most of the Picture.

Thank you for pointing that out.

David, nothing in this shot, absolutely nothing is in focus which for a macro or a close up shot is a big nono -- in short, had you entered a macro photography contest, this shot would end up in the garbage can. Take a look at successful macro/close up shots on this site -- it is critical to get the central element of the macro composition in focus. Misplaced focus, on a foreground or a background, won't do it either -- but that's not the case here -- you simply got nohting in focus. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to insist that this shot deserves 6/6 or 7/7 -- my best suggestion for you is too reshoot it as it does have an interesting Freudian theme. You can complain as much as you want and write as many nasty things about me as you pleased, and rate my pics as low as your heart desires and I am sorry but I'm not sorry and I will not change my mind -- I rated you honestly, that's my policy. I have nothing personal against you and I actually am starting to like your passion. I just hope it is not a passion for 7/7 but for making a good photograph. So please, stop being vengeful and chasing after me like a crying girl -- instead, invest your time in some reading on a macro shooting, practice more and you see that your shots will get better.

Check this http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1739944 for an example of a macro shot that has the critical area in focus but if you do research, you'll find hundreds of other photographers who are doing macro on this site. That's assuming you want to learn something, not to win another 7/7. Nobody's after you, this shot is simply not good. Best, Maria.
