Please tell me how I could have improved this shot, thankyou.

Kirk, it's very tranquil. I love the still river waters.

The left half of the image works very well for me, but the darkness on the right half seems oppressive. I'm not sure there's anything you can do with a single exposure to get more detail out of the shadows at the right. I've seen other people suggest using a tripod to take several photos at different exposures, then using Photoshop to tie them together--layer them all with the darkest on top and carefully erase the darkest sections to reveal lighter versions underneath. Sounds good in theory, but I haven't tried it myself.
