Summer Storm

I know this is not the most impressive shot of lightning ever done,

but I think it's about more than that. Perhaps not very bright on my

part, but I stood my ground as the storm raged over top of me. Rain

hadn't begun to fall yet so I was able to take advantage of the

effects of the wind on the clouds and weeds. The original was in

color, but I converted to black and white as I thought it better

suited the subject and atmosphere. I did get shots with multiple

lightning strikes, but this remains my favorite.

Fantastic shot, with the surreal and threatening mood of a witches' sabbath! I do not remember having seen clouds rendered like this, an excellent example of what can be done by creative camera work alone in this era of post-processing over-fiddling. Difficult to mentally visualize in colour, but b&w does wonderfully suit it. Just beware getting roasted in the process ...
