Meteora 16

Comments, ratings appreciated. This was taken in the Meteora region

of central Greece. These large "rocks" range from a 300-1000 feet

tall (100-300 meters)--and some of them have monasteries built on

top of them. I was trying to capture and interesting storm front

here, as well as the rocks.

Nice photograph. The great thing about this pic. is that the foreground is so detailed.

Wow ! Wonderful grey tones in the first and second plans... but a too much white part in the sky. Very nice landscape : 6/5

Jim, nothing deliberate, though who knows what one can find in a photo.

 

Yann, thanks for your comment and you're right about the sky. There wasn't much I could do about it: the clouds were dark and the sky was white. In PS, I could do some layering to mitigate the whiteness, much like flashing a print in the darkroom.

 

 

 

At first I wasnt sure how I felt about the sky but the longer I look at it, even though it is extremely bright, I love the way the light breaks through that sky and rays down. Nice clean crisp focus and I love the tones. Great work.

Leilani, thanks for commenting. Too much tonal scale here for the film to handle, so a technically perfect shot wasn't possible. while it's certainly flawed, I have some personal attachment to the image.
