joel_truckenbrod 0 Posted March 31, 2005 Wow... You know, I've seen a plethora of "lone tree" shots lately. Generally, it will be some old/gnarled tree up on a soft ridge, with golden-hour lighting displays begging for attention. The photographer with then throw some gaudy webframe on and give it some kitsch title...It seems unavoidable. Then this comes along. An image that despite its relationship to the afore mentioned, is somehow very different. Perhaps it is because it much more about seeing rather than seeking out identifiable and cliche imagery. The sense of space is fantastic and powerful. Placement of compositional elements is key. The reflection and the utilized lines pull everything together with eloquence. Wonderful and poetic...one to learn from. Link to comment
avid 0 Posted April 1, 2005 To echo Joel's comment....beautiful and poetic. All of it has feeling. Is that shot with a Holga or Diana? Just curious. Link to comment
mikeseb 0 Posted April 1, 2005 for once I am at a loss for words, since Joel took them right out of my mouth, leaving me agape. The more I regard this image, the more texture, detail, and richness I discover. Well done, sir. Comments on my work also welcomed. Link to comment
canoe guide 0 Posted April 1, 2005 thanks for the comments and feedback. i must say that this photograph has captured my attention. Joel has it right when he writes about "seeing". it's what i do. avi - this was actually photographed with a 7mp digital camera. i love the look of holga/diana/pinhole photography but i am presently addictted to digital - so i have configured a photoshop holgaizing "filter" that i use to create the look i'm after for my Adirondack Dream Memories work. i must also say that i really like having a full range of aperture and shutter speeds that the plastic cameras don't have. thanks again for the comments.
