More contrast for a start. It looks kind of washed out( the same with the colours, as well, so maybe B&W would be a better option). When I increased the contrast, it caused a few problem bright spots in the clouds, so cloned them out.

Without knowing what other angles would have produced, you've probably done the right thing. The plain landscape is made a bit more interesting because of the downward slope and the hills in the background. The whole shot just needs a better atmosphere- the shape of the clouds isn't helping. Maybe a stormy, overcast day would be better up here, or more broken cloud cover, but if this was a holiday then you can obviously only work with the conditions you're presented with...
