I'm afraid I prefer the B & W version because to me, quite candidly, the tables look like little flat-top toad stools due to their mushroomy color in the color version. Although the restaurant staff setting tables are more visible in the color version, the B & W version emphasizes the pattern of the tables' lay-out, which is a diagonal at right angles to the sunlight, which impact to set the eye circulating within the image.

It makes me laugh to see the castle tower's form echoed in the restaurant's tall lamps (or perhaps they're heaters).

And I like the colour version better :-) For me the "grey" version is too confused. And the apples (or something) are more visible in the tree :-)Good composition and the action by the men is really good.

Andrew, I'm as well for the color version. The color of the brown constraction and the bright set of tables is better accentuated on that version as well as the tree that is nearly lost in the B/W version. I like the rays of the sun, and the movement ofthe man setting the table. Nice composirion. Pnina

Thanks Elina and Pnina.

I think I like the colour version better too... you can get a better feel for the early morning freshness, I think.

I have a brighter impression of this image than I did earlier, which makes the tossing of the tablecloth and the fruits in the trees and windows of the castle more visible than before. So I have a different impression now and therefore now prefer the color version of this image. Except for the burnt out bright patch just below midway on the right edge facing me. So, tell me, have you made changes to the image? Or did I just get a different impression this time? I have looked at this image repeatedly since writing my first critique, but now it seems different, better. Cheers. -Louise.

No, no changes... but it is an image that has grown on me over time also (it's about 3 years old now)... except I hadn't really noticed the burned out part on the Piazza before, but now that you mention it... ugh!!!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm overjoyed that this is a photo you've felt like coming back to :-)
