Imagine if this scene actually existed, then perhaps I would be suitably impressed. I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of sandwiching a new sky on because you were disappointed in what mother nature provided. Maybe if you went back there again you might capture a magical moment.

This is what made Ansel Adams great. He waited. If the lighting (sky) was not right he wouldn't shoot the picture.

Regarding your responses to posters that critique your photo negatively....You were the one that requested their opinion, right? If you are going to insult them or their work for that, then maybe you shouldn't be asking for opinions.

I have to agree with Timothy on that one. To me the process that went into taking the shot is extremely important.

Some people really like your work. Focus on that. Be glad. Smile. :) Life is short.

When I first saw it I thought it was amazing. Only after I noticed the sky was added did I change my opinion. Don't take it personal.

Kevin thank you for your latest ratings.. it's a shame my comments got to you that much. By the way a lot of your stuff is actually very good.

Not sure about the greenish clouds, but this is an awesome image otherwise.

Love your work.

Dear Kevin,

I apologize for my prior abrupt and unfiltered reaction to your image in question. I should have acknowledged that Photoshop composites and digital "hand coloring" are perfectly valid as an outlet for creativity and can certainly be considered art. I am personally disturbed by this sort of work being presented as "photography," but Photo.net spans all genre and sets no ethical standards.

The fact is that your underlying photograph is nice. For my tastes, however, your treatment goes so far in search of dramatic impact that I can not look at it and "accept" the image (the Photoshop masking calls too much attention to itself and immediately feels unreal). This is, as you point out, only my opinion. By the way, you have a number of images that are far stronger and more revealing of your gifts as an image maker.

Best regards,

Justin
