pat_thielen 0 Posted March 22, 2005 I'd really appreciate some written critiques for this image. If you really like it let me know what works, and if you hate it (which is fine) I'd really appreciate knowing what doesn't work with it. Giving out a low rating with no explanation is basically pointless and rude and does no good to the photographer. Sorry about that little rant, but I've received quite a few of these "ratings" and I'd just like to let people know my feelings in regards to this. And I always greatly appreciate those who take the time to write a critique; they are of great benefit in my growth as a photographer. Thanks, -Pat- Link to comment
emily_parton 0 Posted March 22, 2005 Firstly, I join you in the 'rant'. Get's very frustrating when the raters don't comment. For some reason I find this picture quite disturbing. She doesn't look happy to be there and it looks as if she has been 'ordered' to pose. I do like the quality, use of light and the brick background adds some depth to the shot. Link to comment
toto_frank 5 Posted March 22, 2005 a good frame well done with light and composition, but I don't find excellent the attitude of the model. Antonio Link to comment
william_linzenmeyer 1 Posted March 22, 2005 I'll agree with the rant also... I too like the lighting, exposure and the background. But, I don't care for the pose much. It looks too unnatural to me. As the photo was loading (I have a very slow connection) it looked as though she may be ironing or something.. getting ready to get dressed.. I thought maybe she was concentrating on what she was doing. I guess what I'm saying is that it would work better for me if she was doing something more natural. Pretty model, nice location, I hope you can get another chance at this. Bill Link to comment
raddatzphoto 0 Posted March 22, 2005 I get an uncomfortable feeling, empathizing with her struggle to stay balanced. Link to comment
J.W. Wall 3 Posted March 23, 2005 Perhaps she is teetering over some sex-related issue. Shall she exploit it, and teeter over into the light and maybe down the abyss, or regain her balance and step inside to safety and more modest circumstances. I don't know, I like it although it is unsettling. Keep making images! Link to comment
quebin 0 Posted March 23, 2005 I like this pose, as poster above said, could be teetering, but I also get an additional impression of having "landed" there, like a lonely spirit. Technically the lighting is great, personally I would like to maybe see a little more of the ledge she is perched on vs. this crop, to emphasize that she's on the window ledge. Link to comment
