michaelhills 0 Posted March 21, 2005 kp, I really like the dynamics of this composition. I am not a boarder and don't pretend to know the sport, but to me, this shot typifies the thrill and skill (and a defiance of no-skating laws!)needed for this sport. Technically, the horizon is not straight, but I think it actually enhances the dynamic nature of the shot for it to be even more skewed. I have attached my tweaking to illustrate my point. Hope you do not mind. I wanted to explore the dynamism further and converted your composition into duotone (black and a touch of yellow to inject impact). Oversharpened and added a little noise to simulate grain for that 'gritty' feel. Also blown out some of the foreground and background to add further impact, in my opinion. What do you think? By the way, I like your framing too. M Link to comment

bevanlangley 0 Posted March 22, 2005 Hey KP,really nice shot. I live in a city where skating is pretty big - esspecially along the beach parks - so i can appreciate the intricacies of this shot (i'm getting into surf photography myself). I can't really give you much tecnical advice to be honest, but i like it all the samebevan Link to comment
laurent.lp 0 Posted March 22, 2005 I'd prefer this picture with a little crop in the bottom, it's more powerfull. To my mind of course. Nice B&W composition. Link to comment
john_richey 0 Posted March 23, 2005 for my eye i would like to see less of the ground. i dont know how much of the original photo was cropped out but i would have cropped it so the skater is at the extreme right and his shadow and the ledge take up the majority of the photo. but hey that is just me! your timing was spot on. thank you for your comment on my portfolio.
