leilani1 0 Posted March 19, 2005 Wish you were here. I wanted to try something different with that particular saying. Instead of your usual smiling faces and pictures in front of some landmark I wanted to portray a subtle sense of "something missing". I know. It's subtle. ----- Border and font done in PS. sue_anna_joe 0 Posted March 20, 2005 Ouh interesting shot. Quite postcard-ish. Yes they way she walk does show a bit of loneliness, despite the leisure outing. This also looks like one of those surfer brand advertisments. The colours are very fitting! Nice shot! Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted March 20, 2005 Leilani, this composition immediately got my attention. I feel that it was the fact that the subjects were moving away from the camera and not the more popular method of moving towards the camera in this kind of 'tropical paradise' setting. There is a sense of sadness in the way the subjects are moving away and that we do not get to see their faces. Also makes me wonder if they are about to embark on their holiday by getting on the ferry and one of them is wishing someone close was going to share this experience. Or, if they just about to board a ferry home from their holiday and one of them is leaving behind someone close they met on the holiday. All very interesting! Technically, I feel you have captured the scene well, although the horizon needs to be leveled. The colours are lovely and evokes the holiday mood well. I also like that you have not centred the pier right in the middle of the frame. Personally, I would have liked to see a little more focus on the subjects. I have attached my suggestion. By the way, they way you have titled the composition is very good indeed. Hope you do not mind my tweaking of your work. Good stuff. M Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 3, 2006 You could call it street reportage if you will. You've got an eye for it. And great use of colour. Regards C. Link to comment
