j_doyle 0 Posted March 20, 2005 Vezon, This is a stunning image! These birds are so wonderfully colorful. I love each of the different shots you have of these agile birds capturing various insects in-flight. Can I ask what shutter speed and aperture you used to stop action and get this great DOF and whether you used fill-flash? I'm looking for my first digital, and I notice you're using a D70 which is on my short list along with the Canon 20d; am having a hard time deciding between them. I've read the D70 has a far superior flash-sync capacity. Any thoughts? Thanks. J Link to comment
thierryvezon 0 Posted March 21, 2005 thanks for all nice comments. To J Doyle: the speed was 1250 and F5.6 the dof is good because the vineyards(green) are a little far.there is no flash. This photo is a RAW file and cropped(half). Lense is 70/210 4-5.6 af but in manual position. D70 is good ,flash very good,if you have good lenses nikon it is a good choice. Link to comment
j_doyle 0 Posted March 21, 2005 Vezon, Thanks so much for the detailed info on this photo. Very helpful and much appreciated. The lighting is just wonderful. Don't have nikon lenses, but am kind of leaning the D70 direction. BTW, I think your nature and Iceland portfolios are outstanding. J Link to comment
superpete 0 Posted March 19, 2008 I had a local copy of the other picture, same composition and flowers but a different picture from the same series I presume, taken in 2004 with a D70 (exif was partially present in my copy, but seems to be erased in this recent copy).I rarely look at this site, so it must be quite a coincidence I too recognised this as a "seen" shot. This one is nothing new, but still a great picture in my opinion. This is a link to the previous file in a temp folder on my webspace:http://skyscapes.info/temp2/Actiefotografie-Sluitertijd_06.jpg Take care,Peter Link to comment
