wow...excellent, macro with a sense of purpose....we forget the technical prowness of the camera and the photographer and only "see" and react to the medium....this is what photography is all about.... one in a million shot...extraordinaire....

Wonderfully done! What an interesting perspective. The DOF works very well in this situation even though the eyes seem a bit blurred.

Wow. I love it. what comes to my mind here is not adolescent alien but Baby alien. The slight blur in the eyes works to give an almost warm and caring look to the little fella. And normally I dont like large open spaces. I am a fan of tighter cropping but for this photo it really works to show perspective of size. On the crop the only thing i woulda done is kept him a tiny bit higher in frame not centered but the purple below him makes a better background then the black above so more of it would be better, but that is REALLY nitt-picking. Great shot.

Very good exposition. I believe you used a flash to let the insect be so bright.

 

In any way it seems an extra terrestral environment, due to the purple base.
