ABQ Snow Storm #1

jenna_g

We had a big storm move through town. I caught the last major part of it this morning. I welcome constructive comments.

These snowflakes look more like little snowballs! Do you remember the exposure time? I like these snow-covered tables(?) on the left and people seem to actually enjoy the snow, at least the group on the right. Really nice shot and I love that lady with the ocelot-like spotted collar and the gentleman right behind her. Where did you get such a storm at this time of the year?

Hi Maria,

This was 1/180 and part of the snow on the right bench is overexposed. This was pretty much the last heavy blast and it only lasted about 10 minutes and then it was just light flurries. We had about 6-8 inches in two days. A couple of the bigger dots are flakes on my lens as I was shooting into the storm on this one. The other shot I posted has more of a sideway slant like your POW.

This was kind of a freak storm. It was in the 70's Friday and Saturday. This was my first time shooting street in the snow and it's really an adventure!

Thanks for the comments.

It's not overexposed and it's well composed -- that lady in a funky hat on the left is effectively counterbalancing (she's closer to you and takes more space in a frame) the three-some effect as Tim put it :0)I believe this one is best of the two snow storm shots you've posted. Also, you got so many characters here ...

Yep the man and woman on the right were great characters and I regret not getting more shots of them. I think I may have one more of them, but not as close up as I would like. They were the only two at this spot that seemed to be enjoying the snow!

Maria: It's a little bit hot, but I can live with that. I'm fairly happy with a lot of the shots I got this day, just wish the snow had stuck around a bit longer. It began melting later in the day. I was going to shoot some film too, but left that camera at my apartment.
