Red nose day Glencoe

ian cameron

An unearthly red glow from a setting sun sufuses the landscape with red light, the setting sun strikes one of the Paps of Glencoe at the head of Kinlochleven turning it a fiery red. It all seemed at odds with the rim of ice left around the edge of the tidal sea loch. Truly a red nose day in Glencoe. Please feel free to visit my website for some other recent uploads, Transient light, There are some superb new shots at Timecatcher too.

Almost looked too busy to me at first glance, but on a longer look ... really enjoyed the composition and the detail, and the reds. I especially like the way the white ice on the shoreline emphasises the break between the shore and the loch, and leads the eye into the image. The rocks in the left foreground and the old pilings also add a nice balance to keep pulling the eye back to the centre. Reminds me of all those old reddish gold highland oil paintings - probably a few hanging in the Ballachulish Hotel ;-) Best, Jermey.

composition and depth of field, Ian! I must admit, though, during my one visit to Scotland ( in March of 1977) - I was so cold that I spent all my time in pubs! Rail tour of the pubs of Scotland! This is beautiful, thanks for sharing!
