Josh: IMO, this image does not work for a couple of reasons. From a composition perspective, I think I know what you trying to do, but the busy nature of the scene distracts the eye. Colors are impaired by what appears to be a bad white balance (easy to do with snow), resulting in a strong blue/green cast. Focus is also soft. Hard to tell if this is a result of handholding at a slow speed or if your digital files just need a good deal more sharpening.

I took a quick look at the other images in your portfolio and most of them seem somewhat soft with the notable exception of those taken by the CoolPix, so it may well be a camera specific issue. You might want to read up on sharpening techniques that work well with your camera. Alternatively, you lens may need to be recalibrated.
