tal_weiss 0 Posted October 11, 2001 It took me a long time to compose this shot and get the right (?) settings. My wife patiently stood by... Does this shot work for you? Is there any way I could have (or still can) improve it? Thanks! Link to comment
leif_rudd 0 Posted October 12, 2001 The colors are sumptuous, but I find either the water to be a distraction, or seeing the whole hill behind the building I feel too much tension, as if the building is struggling against the hill for our attention. I cropped it to not have any lake, and I like that better. See what you think. I could be wrong here... Link to comment
aappelphotography 0 Posted October 12, 2001 I love the orange roof in contrast to the great green hill / grass / etc... Good work ! Link to comment
tal_weiss 0 Posted October 12, 2001 Thank you for the kind comments. Are the electricity towers on the hill distracting? I could have removed them with PS... Link to comment
mpalmquist 0 Posted October 14, 2001 The powerlines and the tiny flowers/grass in the lowerleft and the empty branch in top left bothered me, I see you removed the towers that was a good choice. I think the only way to remove the other two would be to re-shoot from a very slightly closer position or just a bit to the right. Overall a nice pic with good color. Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted October 15, 2001 This is one of those cases when I think I prefer the original unretouched image over the version with the "improvements" that were made with PostScript. The reason is that the presence of the electric powerline towers emphasizes the anachronistic nature of this cottage, and so makes the overall image (including the hills in the background) more interesting.
