I was pleasantly surprised to see the very different star trails near

the equator compared to what we see in Alaska!

Patrick, The star trails are amazing! I never thought about how they would look at the equator. You are right about not ever being able to see this perspecitve in either the northern or southern hempspheres. Great shot.

Hey Patrick, how are you doing? I don't think that I have ever seen a more interesting star trails photo. It is really neat to see the stars curve in different directions as you move away from the center. Something that I would change (if you are willing to manipulate the photo) would be to slightly tone down the fires in the background as they seem to draw my eyes. I think that is a little thing, though. Well done!

One other thing I didn't notice before...there seems to be a hill or something behind the tent on the left. It breaks what should be a straight line from the back of the tent. Besides possibly lowering your tripod and aiming more upwards, I don't see how it could have been done differently. Still, I think this is minor compared to the picture overall. Have more shots from Africa? Would like to see them if yes. Later,

Wow, impressive. And no weird color shifts! What was your ISO set at? Great photo, The tents add alot of interest to the shot. I agree the fires are a little distracting. The Star trails are awesome! Was the moon out that night?

No obvious color shifts I was aware of. We did a slight bit of cooling in the RAW conversion. No where near tungsten though. I believe this was ISO 200 or 250.

It looked like a great trip!

I really like the color tone and the warm feeling you get when looking at this one.
