Very good light and detail. The lack of sky detail reminds me of old lantern slide shots where the exposure range was so low the sky was always burnt out in favour of the foreground detail. The clarity as mentioned above is excellent and the sense of age very strong.

Agree with everything said before -- beautiful work! The lack of a sky particularly helps the context here I think. Just wouldn't seem as "right" with big fluffy clouds up there...

This Roman ruin is tucked away behind the more impressive Theatre of Marcellus, and few people visit and get to see it's splender. You will remember that Octavia was once married to Marcus Antoninus, before all that trouble with Cleopatra! Although it was her brother Octavius, after he became the Emperor Augustus who errected this comemoration.

 

In the Renaissance it was used as a Fish Market!
