fabiangraham 0 Posted March 5, 2005 This is a photo I took of a ring I made. The design is based on crescent moons around a smokey quartz facet cut stone (8mm round). Comments welcome on both the macro photographic side and on the design side. Many thanks. Link to comment
charrisi 0 Posted March 12, 2005 Is that tobacco leaf I see? Looks like a dangerous ring with those spikes (antenna). Use of macro.... I'm still learning so... here goes. Too bright and harsh. It doesn't do the smoky quartz it's do justice. This is what was told to me and it has worked well. Also, long exposure with small aperture for dof; tripod. Great to see you back! ~charlene Link to comment
fabiangraham 0 Posted March 12, 2005 Thanks for the suggestions. No , it isn't a tobacco leaf. Unfortunately Tobacco wasn't growing at the time in my garden in London (would have been nice if it were though). Depth of field....was intentional! I wanted to have the ring sharp, but the background out of focus. I was trying to highlight the ring as the subject of the photo.. It was taken on a hot sunny day, so didn't use tripod. Just held up the leaf by hand to the position that created an interesting (but not overpowering shaddow) and took 1 shot. Thanks again.... Fabian Link to comment
