Miner's Castle II

WJT

I used a tripod and stopped the lens down probably to about f16. I do not remember the shutter speed on this one. It was taken about mid-morning. Adjusted in Ektaspace using Photoshop CS.

Magnificent shot, Walter! I particularly like the changes in water colour and the ripples visible on the darker blue part. The composition is excellent too.

I waited for the larger version (dial-up) - worth the wait in this case. Great details. Wish 35mm could resolve like this... Nice work again Walter.

What fantastic detail in the water, it is quite fascinating. I find it dificult to discern which is reflection detail of the overhead sky and which bits are under the water. Intriguing stuff well done.

Walter, I really like the composition and color harmony in this very nice image. The added sky is definitely a plus. I do feel the dark forground and very light sky at top tend to flatten the perspective of the image. A sort of depth inversion is taking place. I used the PS CS highights/shadows command to lighten the forground a tad and darken the upper sky a tad. I think the result is more depth to an already very nice image. See what you think.. keep up the good work.

Thank you Miles, I appreciate your visit and feedback. While I can see that you have reduced the value of the sky, it appears in your attachment that the the foreground values, as well as the Castle Rock itself, have been similarly reduced. I know that this is not what you intend and I understand your comment about the perspective anomaly. Let's wait until I get the finished print in my hands and see what it looks like. I will revisit this comment at that time. Regards.

Walter, coming late and reading all comments given to that image, what is rest for me is to add my appreciation to the beauty of that landscape, and your skills. Pnina

Late to the party here, but I can see what all the raves are about. To me it looks like a mythical creature rearing up to head out to sea. Beautiful tones, and an image of which to be proud....

simply a beautiful photograph with a lot of impact - the composition works perfectly, the curved shore and the sea with all the details in it produces good harmony here - the sharpness is very good indeed and enhances a shot like this - I just came over your portfolio and I think you have a lot of nice work!
