r_e 0 Posted February 19, 2005 CR: I remember one of your earlier pictures. I was pleased by, as I am by this one. There is no suggestion, for there exist no rules for such unique works. They are as they are ... RE Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted February 19, 2005 Reiner I occasionally repost a few of my earlier works to get them back into my portfolio, after I deleted them. This is one of my favorites. I'm glad you like it. Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted February 20, 2005 I like the lines moveing in one direction and th lines and patterns on the log that move in the other direction. Not to mention it is just a plain interesting shot. Link to comment
hashim a 0 Posted February 20, 2005 Agreed with the comments above David, another very nice image... I like the strong contrasts in this as well as the opposing lines presented. Thanks for the larger version. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 20, 2005 I remember this one from earlier as well. It is a memorable shot and one where IR really adds to it. (I find a lot of IR shots just look a bit odd and have nothing much to add once one gets accustomed to the oddness). However this is different. The IR seems to bring out both the sense of nature's endless cycle of birth and death and also adds to the graphic quality of the image. A beautiful and thought provoking shot. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,674 Posted February 20, 2005 Thought provoking for sure as Colin pointed out. The more you look, the more you see. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted February 20, 2005 Hello, David. I guess I have seen the shot before, too. The old log worn out by the elements indeed stimulates one's imagination. I like the contrast between the static dead wood and moving grass in the foreground. Regards. Peter Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 21, 2005 A classic image with simple use of colours & objects. Minimalism definitely works excellently here. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted February 22, 2005 The lines moving in one direction on the log and the other on the grasses make for a unique photo. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
igor diamandi 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Great composition, sharpnes is remarcable. Maybe a little too dark. Link to comment
manel_soria 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Well done, really nice intersection of textures. Nice BW tones. Link to comment
Sandeha Lynch 5 Posted March 1, 2005 The eye drew me in - it reminded me of an illustration from a children's story (frogs, logs, crocodiles? I forget now) but the weaving of the grasses doubles the interest. Link to comment
wim.ipenburg 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Yes, I had seen this one before, half 2004 I think. It's still a fantastic photo! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 22, 2006 I love the contrast between the horizontal ridges on the log and the ever-so-slight diagonals of the reeds. Wonderful. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted February 13, 2006 I must say this is one of my favorites in your portfolio. I especially way the light lines of the wood and dark shadows work against the light grass and shadows. It makes the wood appear sharp, and the details of the knot stand out. Link to comment
polina.viljun 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Seems like this wooden creature is looking at you... wonderful photo, it remains in memory after once seen. Link to comment
hugo tuffen 0 Posted November 15, 2006 This is one of the few IR shots on PN that I really appreciate. The tones are just wonderful. Your photos are way beyond gimmickry and the type of tasteless manipulation that insults Nature! Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Thanks Hugo. Have you seen any volcanic action lately? Stay in touch... Link to comment
