amélie 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Beautiful...I love the one little yellow flower amongst the grass, a very nice detail. Link to comment
mark lucas 0 Posted February 17, 2005 I think the sky looks over-processed. However, still a nice scene. Link to comment
thomas_turk 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Critiques. White horse, poor choice of white cloud background. Too much uninteresting foreground, and left ground. Uninteresting perspective, (maybe an 18mm?). Undramatic lighting. Good low camera position, but too far from said horse. Thats it. TT Link to comment
caroline_robinson 0 Posted February 17, 2005 A wistful image, but just a little kitch in my view. Link to comment
mrhaydon 0 Posted February 18, 2005 Sounds like we have got some uninteresting critiques in PN that say a lot but don't add much in the way of help. It is nice picture and treated very well I think, I would be happy with it on my wall. Link to comment
dave_tate 0 Posted February 18, 2005 don't be discouraged, i think you accomplished or captured a great shot. no, it doesn't look totally natural but it is beautiful none the less. Link to comment
thomas_turk 0 Posted February 18, 2005 I told the photog the reason for each critique, Michael, albeit briefly.. Dont knock the critics..remember on PN photogs ask for critique, not just praise... Link to comment
mareval 2 Posted February 18, 2005 Impressive and expressive image. Thanks for this nice memory. Best Wishes. Link to comment

underwood 0 Posted February 18, 2005 Very nice shot overall but I would have cropped out a little bit off the bottom to bring the horse a little closer to the viewer. Link to comment
wernher 0 Posted February 18, 2005 I don't know if this is allowed but these are my reactions on reading one of the prior critiques.. through which my own opinion will also become clear.>>White horse, poor choice of white cloud background.No. It is hard to imagine any other background. Cloudless sky would be too dull. Higher camera position to exclude the sky would make the photo too monotonous. The sky is just about right although it has to be asked whether the polariser use is a little bit excessive. >>Too much uninteresting foreground, and left ground.Personally I really like the texture and colour of the grass and I don't think there's too much foreground. Definitely not too much left ground - look at the inclusion of the little yellow flower on the left. The horse's head describes a diagonal that (almost) points to this flower. If I had to suggest a crop it would be to crop at the top and at the right. Cropping at the top would exclude some of the over-polarised sky and cropping at the right and top would help to move the horse a bit more off-center. >>Uninteresting perspective, (maybe an 18mm?).There's a time and place for sticking an 18mm up a cow's nose but after you've seen the 20th such photo it starts getting a bit old. Personally I like this perspective, level with the horse and zoomed so that its proportions are not distorted.>>Undramatic lighting.I think the lighting is good. Not all photos can be taken in the golden hour.In summary, I like this photo very much. Well done to the photographer. Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted February 18, 2005 Very nice, like the perspective as is, love the little Icelandic pony. (Want to ride him/her right now!) I do agree there is a little too much foreground, and parts of the sky have posterized (clipped blue channel? jpeg artifacts?). Being a horrible Philistine, I would move the flower(!) a little to the right, and then do a bit of cropping. But I am an evil person, and short, too. Les Link to comment
