laura2 0 Posted February 16, 2005 This is the stove in my kitchen. It was apparently installed in 1957. I am paying homage to its retro-ness. Does this look retro and 50s to you? Do you like the composition? I liked the angle of the light along the eggs and stove, hence why I played with the shadows as such. Tell me what you think! Thank you! Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted February 16, 2005 "Retro" was my first thought. This really has that look. I like the shadows across the upper right corner. Be careful about that 1957 thing, it was a very good year! Link to comment
jeremy_smith 0 Posted February 16, 2005 Well, the stove is very retro, but I think this is composed a bit awkwardly... Not sure I have better ideas, but here's a couple of options that come to mind: pan on back left burner, handle more or less towards us, wide angle lens aimed across the stove from right to left catching the super-cool logo out of the "corner of your eye". Perhaps something other than whole eggs in the pan--seems a little forced. In any case, maybe a composition that shows more of the stove and is not dominated by the big cast iron skillet. I like your idea, though. Makes me want to eat a quiche. Thanks! Link to comment
watermark_of_merni 14 Posted February 27, 2005 I think you need to get an old coffee pot, to put with your photo shoots of this great stove. Best wishes and I do want to see more of this stove. Link to comment
nour_eddine_el_ghoumari 0 Posted March 8, 2005 A nicely composed picture Laura. You have achieved your target in composition, mood and feel. The lighting is also splendid. However, I feel there are too many spots that took the attention from the main subject. You need to clone them out. I have worked on your photograph a little. I do hope you do not mind .Bonne chance et a la prochaine. Ciao. Link to comment
dennisdixson 0 Posted March 15, 2005 Very cool. I love the shadows. I saw some old stoves like this about a month ago and took a couple of really bad photos with my digital elph so I would not forget about it which I did until just now. I will have to go back and do it again with my new camera now. You are lucky to live with this "model" so you can shoot it whenever you please. Since everyone is offering opinions, I would like to see a steaming teapot next. I think you could experiment with the shadows and add some lacy curtain fabric or glass bottles to create different types of shadows. Pancakes on a flat griddle would be interesting also. I think the eggs were a good choice because they can be seen in the pan without changing the perspective of the shot. The thing I like most about this photo is the relative simplicity. Good job as usual. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted March 19, 2005 Needs a retro iron skillet to go with it ...... I like it, but then of course, I would ..... (-; Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted April 18, 2005 You have a Jewel here, Laura (sorry, just had to do it!). Just had dinner, but think I'll go back for a nice egg omlet made in a cast iron skillet, unfortunately on an electric stove. Can't have everything. I like this, and judging from the comments, you have some potential variations of the theme to work with. Well done (not the eggs thou, please). Mister Ken Link to comment
