Having several aquariums myself. I have gotten the urge to snap a few pictures of my fish. One thing that you learn almost instantly is that it is almost impossible to get a good picture of a fish.

About all I can suggest is use take a very small (2 gals or so) tank, paint the back a solid color, fill it with water from the aquarium, and net the fish and transfer him/her. Then just use lots of light from the top and sides of the tank.

Good luck.

p.s. Nice looking Guppy.

Most professional photos of aquarium fish are taken of fish that are restricted in a tank by the use of a piece of glass (a clean piece of glass is invisible under water); this restricts the movement of the fish and the fish is kept more or less parallel to the front glass which helps due to the typically low DOF. Other than that, it is more luck than judgement, typically! You need a lot of light... A digital camera would be an ideal way to practise, come to think of it...

Not a bad picture - the eye is nicely in focus whith is good. Still, it would be better if the whole fish were in focus; as with photographing anything that moves, you need a lot of patience to photograph fish!
