Ullswater in morning light

I adjusted the saturation in Photoshop, nothing else.

Your probably right Ricardo, but I was having fun, seeing how far I could push it!

It was a really dull, cold Autumn day, and it was raining. I had climbed up there, so I wanted to make something of the photographic results.

Well! I see what you mean. Little indeed could do the polarizer with such diffuse light. My personal liking doesn't go with over-saturated colours, so in spite of all I would keep the 'honest' one, perhaps just a bit enhanced. Anyway, you did have your share of fun!

Nicholas,

This one really struck me. As someone who prefers black and white, I was surprised at how well the saturation of colors here worked for me. Makes it look like something out of a storybook!

I also checked out the rest of your portfolio. You have a good eye, and I enjoy your compositions; enough out of the ordinary to show some personality!

Nicholas, here is another idea using PS - change the light using levels. I'm not saying this is better - just a different approach.

The sky, and the far distance are certainly better Colin, thanks. The help that you and Zafar, have been giving me regarding photoshop, is really inspiring. I shall be messing arround in the Light Room all weekend, and hope to post some results next week.

Thanks again!

I tend to agree that the saturation is a little overdone. Having lived in Lancashire for 5 years and made many trips through the Lake District, I don't recall ever seeing this intensity of colour. I always rather liked the subdued hues of the area. I tend to hold back on saturating images and find that "saturation with less colour" in Paintshop Pro intensifies the depth of colour without changing the tone much. So I'd have to say I prefer your original. But we all have our preferences and should be allowed to follow our whims. It's a nicely leading composition in any case. My only nitpick on that would be that the two sides of the lake didn't meet there in the middle and disrupt the 'flow' of the water.
