jerry ting 1 Posted February 11, 2005 Krister, funny to see the title 'Tiny' mosquito. It's so HUGE!! What is it sitting on? Very colorful. A great macro shot as usual. BTW, can you help me identify this insect? Thanks! http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3110606 Link to comment

dustin_sutherland 0 Posted February 11, 2005 This looks like a culex species...but where is the proboscis and palps. This coming from a entomologist by trade..and photo hobbyist. Very interested in this for a scientific point of view. Lovely picutre though. Link to comment

krister hall 0 Posted February 16, 2005 Jerry: This one is sitting on a birk tree but usually they sit on spider webs. Dustin: This is a Mycomyia sp mosquito, I do not know the species. They feed on fungus and there are a lot of unknown species in this family. For all members of this family the proboscis is missing. Link to comment
