Guest Guest Posted February 11, 2005 I like your photo. Very good details, very good camera. I've seen it larger and I realized that the gate is closed so the railroad is abandoned... Maybe to underline this idea you cold make the lines and cables on the outside of the railroad dissapear. So it will make an abandoned railroad in a plain field. :) What do you say? Link to comment
jason_gilliver 0 Posted February 11, 2005 When viewed larger I get a sense of being there, on the train. It really draws up feelings of being scared and wondering what is about to happen. Great Tone. Well done indeed. Link to comment
websterforrest 0 Posted March 29, 2005 Hi, I like this photo. There is an uneasy sense of near vertigo between the (completely generic) foreground and the (historically pregnant and visually iconic) background of the gates. It's almost as though the front of the photo were looking straight down, at the familiar sight of railway ties as they disappear under the train, yet because of the wide angle lens and orientation of the camera, when we look up the background 'seems' to be at a different angle: we are now looking towards the destination. It's hard to photograph a place like this, I know from experience as well. You really can't even do the atmosphere justice, never mind the historical and human significance. But this is a very good composition which stimulates the viewer. Nice work. Link to comment
