g1 0 Posted October 10, 2001 Yes I agree with you Tom, this one is far superior to the one she chose. As it is closer, the backlit halo doesn't look so obviously a lamp behind her head. There is more detail and tonal variation on the face. I find this expression to be more mysterious, and the posture more relaxed & natural. Link to comment
marc1 0 Posted October 20, 2001 a smile would have increased this shots aesthetics, portrait shot well taken, lighting very nicely done Link to comment

hkbmac 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Hi Tom, two things I would do (both in photoshop). Get rid of the lower catchlights, and crop the ottom of the photo of a few pixels. The crop will get rid of the small section of arm showing on the (camera) right side of the frame. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted November 19, 2001 What's wrong with the lower catchlight? Also when printed to 8x10 proportions the bottom part does get cropped out. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment
alex_hawley 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Hi Tom- I think the lighting balance is just right. Especially like the way you used the backlighting. I miss APX-25 too. I got to shoot a whole 5 rolls of it before it went away. Link to comment
hkbmac 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Hi Tom, I prefer single catchlights in portraits. It is something that has been driled into my head by my previous instructor / mentor. If you like them, keep them in, just offering up my own $0.02. Link to comment
lorraine 0 Posted November 19, 2001 I like your back lighting and I like the catchlights. You did a great job!!! Lorraine Foster Link to comment
secondsight 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Hey Tom! Nice shot, with only two things I would personally have done different. The lighting of her face is too dark while the "halo" is too bright. I'm constantly being forced to look at the halo and not the model. The Light reflections in her eyes should be much whiter that they are. Also, there is a pile of skin creasing at her neck, this can be reduced or eliminated by having her tilt her head slightly away from the creasing. Even just a bit can make a big difference. Otherwise, very nice. Keep it up! Link to comment
jasonphoto01 0 Posted November 20, 2001 Great shot. picky stiff here though. i would use a hair light to better seperate your subject from the background. i would also have tried a lighting pattern like a rembrant or a loop. paramount would look nice too. just suggestions... Link to comment
jasmine_obrien 0 Posted January 11, 2002 I like the serious expression & the relaxed pose. Nice quality of print. The arm stands out a bit, you could make it darker to merge in better. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted January 11, 2002 Nice quality of printYou should see one in real life. I only had a few opportunities to use this film before it dissapeared :( I think when it's cropped to 8x10" the arm isn't even in there but I didn't consider that. thanks Link to comment
