I am delighted to consider and respond to your thoughtful,

intelligent, honest, and appropriately critical comments,

suggestions, and questions; but know that ratings (and visibility)

are irrelevant to me.

I like to abstract content and most of all the colour scheme of this foto. It's definately a good base for something bigger. Although the red colour of the light shades are relevant, the shape of the objects themselves are unsafe in this content, IMHO.

almost anything suspended above the street is unsafe in any context, and particularly if you're standing beneath!

Excellent composition and colors. Very nice work. Difficult to improve, but here is one suggestion: A higher placement of the lights would perhaps improve the picture further? (Then you have to go back and take more shots...)

the problem and charm about reflection shots like this is that even the slightest change in camera position changes the perspective which changes the reflections which changes the shot. having been there I figure this iss mighty close to the best one possible especially since the lamp lanterns are best separated from the background details which are as best delineated from this perspective than any other. and if the lamps were higher in the frame then I might have to include other distracting details below them, no?

I think this works really well Howard. In particular I like the way the building just starts to break up towards the edges to become sky.

My only suggestion is to perhaps try a frame - something simple.

a black hairline around the image is most appropriate for the sky at lower left and the lamppost at near right. that will go into the print version since I utilize a white border, and this with a dark grey mat.

the distorted reflections in the window really make for a great subject. I'm torn as to whetherr or not the lamp post helps or detracts.I think that an arguement can be made for either case. If you wanted to I do think you could clone it out in Photoshop with a little patience and hardwork.

...I probably could have made the shot, or similar, without the lamps and post. and the abstract without them would have been "nice". but why exclude the magic of these locational elements that say "Chinatown"? instead, why not utilize them as the focal point of interest? excluding them simply never entered my mind's eye and heart. of course, the lamps and post had to be placed in the frame using precise camera positioning in order to support the reflection pattern which also was configured by camera position and lens focal length.
