This mushroom, despite its delicate beauty, smells like rotten meat.

Its smell is used to attract flies (one of which can be seen on the

top left) which help to spread its spores. It lasts only one to two

days.

Incredible picture of an extremely beautiful looking mushroom. I too appreciated your explanation because the top part of the mushroom looks vaguely like that of morels, which are rather different from this mushroom though, according to what you say. What a delicate looking fungus. I guess the image might be a little brighter perhaps but then you might risk losing the difference in color tone between teh different parts of the mushroom.
