pawel1 0 Posted February 3, 2005 First word that comes to mind is "solemn"... image captures/conveys emotion. Well framed and composed. Link to comment
pawel1 0 Posted February 3, 2005 Just now read your title, after leaving my first comment. What I saw in the image was the silhouette of a large object, with a nicely lit column in the background - the juxtaposition of the two suggesting "solemn" to me; in all honesty, the chain in front was a distraction. However, given your title (Excluded), it suggests to me that the chain is the central point of the image for you. If that is your intention, I might have lowered the perspective a bit, to get the floor beneath the chain. Link to comment
lars_brorson_fich 0 Posted February 3, 2005 The titel "excluded" refers to the contrast between the light coming from the window, symbolising the outside world/life, and the heavy dark mass of the coffin on the left, symbolising the silence of death. The hole scene can therefor be seen as a interpretation of death as being excluded from life, represented by the light from the window. The idea is not mine, I admit, but inspired by the itallian architect Aldo Rossi, who has used light and the contrast between inside and outside as a symbole of life and death in a similar way in a cementry outside Modena. I admit, I haven?t paid much atention to the chain - so thats an error. Lars Fich Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 20, 2005 Another I really like -- a very simplly composed image, with a deeper meaning. The exposure is very nice, and the chain doesn't bother me, though I would be happier if it were gone. Still, you can pull it into the metaphore of your image. Life from the light, death in the dark mass of the coffin... and the living witness excluded from death by the chain. :) It all works with enough thought. Very nice image. Link to comment
