gaetanchevalier 5 Posted January 29, 2005 Merci pour vos commentaires. J'etais a l'observatoire de la Capitale situ頡u 31e etage du Complex G. C'est l'edifice le plus eleve de Quebec. Link to comment
Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted January 31, 2005 Definately the right moment for the shot, good patience. Link to comment

WJT 627 Posted February 1, 2005 Beautiful view Gaetan! For me, the warm light, long shadows, and your high vantage point really make this wonderful (6/6). The far shore is a little distracting, so I tried a version to see how it would look without it. If you find it offensive let me know and I will delete it. Regards. Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted February 2, 2005 Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it and you editing version of my photo. I agree with you, the far shore is a little distracting. But for me, it gives the real scale of the Saint Laurence river. I also like the border you make it add to the beauty of the shot. Thanks again for taking the time to write a constructive comment and to do this fine editing work. Link to comment

dhawks 0 Posted February 3, 2005 Great winter scene shot. The contradiction between the warming sun and all the ice and snow is terrific. Well done. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted February 3, 2005 Lovely. Just like looking at a miniature water glass bottle. Jigger for some snow? Congrats. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted February 3, 2005 Gaetan, very good lighting and I especially like those long shadows on the frozen river. Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted February 4, 2005 Yes Peter the right moment for the shot, and good patience, because I planned this shot since January 2004. All conditions must be met and the building where I took this picture is usually closing at 17:00. But that evening it was open until about 20:00 because of the opening of a photo exposition. I was invited to this presentation, so I took my camera with me. Link to comment
novastorm 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Hi Gaetan, I like Alec Ee comment :). I look at this and I remember how cold it gets on the Saint Lawerence River there with those long shadows. Brrrrr, Nicely Done. Cheers Nova :) 6/6 Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted February 6, 2005 Yes, it can be very cold on the Saint-Lauwrence river. Last year january 15th on the ferry between Quebec city and Levis, I took picutes of sea smoke with temperature at minus 26 Celsius (-14F) and very strong winds equivalent to extreme wind chill factor on the river of near minus 55C! gaetanchevalier 5 Posted February 6, 2005 Quebec city get each year about 316 cm of snow! Snow precipitation can start as early as October and we have falling snow as late as April. During winter, only few days have temperature above O degree celsius (32 degrees F.) So the snow stay on the ground until mid April! Link to comment
detlef 6 Posted February 16, 2005 I really like the reflection of the building on the snow... Link to comment
