I took this shot a few years ago with a Bausch and Lomb 1200mm f11

Schmidt Cassergrain, employing prime focus. I do not understand why

there is not much more interest here in astrophotography.

Your thoughts please

Hi! Your image suffers from severe vignetting (as this would not be obviously :) ). Try to reduce this effect on your next pictures maybe by using afocal projection? It's interesting that the shot was taken on daylight, but the blue does not seems too natural... Best wishes!

Hi! Thanks for your words about my profile. I have visited yours too and the best ones among the astrophotography is definately the Venus transit one :). I really like it... I have some other astrophotos that I will upload soon. Were do you live? If you live far away from city lights anbd your sky is good, you can try some other kind of astrophotography. Like star trails (are you familiar with the technique?)... Best wishes!!!

Hi,

Thanks for your kind remarks. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Living in the city, the seeing is terrible. There is however a place in Pennsylvania, a state park where I understand the seeing is phenominal. I have been meaning to go there. I am familiar with star trails but have never tried it. I even purchased a 50mm 1.8 lens to do so and have taken copious notes on the subject, but have not tried it yet. Very soon I hope to do so.

What equipment do you typically use for most of you astrophotography work?

Hi Duane!

I am using for astrophotography a canon T 70 film camera combined with the following lenses - a 85 mm 1.8, 300mm 4; with a 2x teleextender i have 4 combinations of lenses (but i use it rarely because of the abberations it introduces). Now i tried some guided astrophotography with this equipment - look at my portofolio...

Best wishes,

Alex Tudorica
