Guest Guest Posted January 22, 2005 the lighting, detail, texture, and contrast are very good. assuming the original capture retains the detail then you might consider to include in very deepest shadow the rose's stem especially in slight diagonal. in that case then the negative space to the right might not be needed since the shadowed stem would give the image a more natural compositional dynamic. the larger version seems to reveal digital artifacts and masking (the grey diffused transition area between the black background and subject) along the edges that you might consider to address if you are going to make a sizeable print, especially for exhibition purposes.
