shileshjani 0 Posted January 23, 2005 OK, I can stop photographing now - no way I can do better than this. Awesome. This is so good that I am looking at it more critically. See attached. How does the brighter snow on the slopes look? And what is the strange verical lines I have arrowed. Still I give it 7+7. You can quit now MacGreggor.......please. Link to comment
macgregor_anderson 0 Posted January 23, 2005 Thanks, I really appreciate all the great comments. I do like the lighter snow better in some ways, and I did fool around with that in photoshop. But it looked a little too unnatural for me in the end, given where the sun was. Should be interesting to print in the darkroom, fooling around with that. And, believe it or not, there is detail in the trees below the mountains. Tmax has amazing latitude. So I'll have to decide if I want to print that dark or a little lighter also. Not sure what those streaks are you point out, but great eye. I develop these sheets by hand in trays and while I haven't had a lot of problems, perhaps it's uneven development. The good news is, I've got six negatives from this shoot, and only two were dry when I scanned this one. Several of the others look very interesting too, but I won't have a chance to really look at them til next week. Even shot two sheets of velvia, my first color 4x5. I think the contrast of the scene will be too much for it, but who knows. There was not a lot of color in this sunset, so it may well turn out to be better in b/w. It's really nice to have good results from a 4x5. I have hundreds of negs and mostly they disappoint. But a couple have been worth all the effort. Thanks again. Link to comment
