ada-ipenburg 0 Posted January 20, 2005 This shot is great too, Rod. The gold and silver tones work fantastic. I think I gonna break up the old watch of my grandpa because after seeing all this I'm very curious to how his watch looks like inside. I hope you don't mind Rod, but in my personal opinion these watch pictures showes up better in the frame you've used for the previous two photographs. This heavy one distract a bit and that is so pity because of the beauty of this shot. But it can be a matter of taste. Best Regards, Ada. Link to comment

root 0 Posted January 21, 2005 It's a fairly common subject, and while I like the composition, this sort of image needs to be tack sharp. Link to comment
rod_melotte 0 Posted January 21, 2005 Carl - the problem I was/am having is that if I make it sharper it also brings out the scratchs on the surface - is this a lighting problem? The exposure was 4s at f20. Link to comment
root 0 Posted January 21, 2005 The trick is to avoid side lighting by putting the object inside an opaque tent that diffuses the light. It also solves the problem of blown out highlights evident in your other upload. Focus manually 1/3 of the way in. Hope this helps. Link to comment
