Nice idea - silhouetting a flag instead of just having plain old star trails. Of course it'll be blurred in the wind - that's unavoidable.

The trees in the background look a little blurred, as if out of focus? I'd say this is worth re-shooting to see if it can be done better (on a night with no wind!)

Thanks andrew for the critique and I would have to agree with everything you said. This was my 1st attempt at this kind of photo so I was mainly just trying to get a feel for the exposure time verses iso speeds. It's been cloudy for the last week or so with the exception of the night I took this and then it was windy! I plan on going out and giving it another shot in a better location (then out my front door :-)) Anyways thanks for taking the time you took in commenting on my photo.

hey there, cool shot, what was your exposure and f-stop. I've been fooling around with similar shots, you can actually stop the lense all the way down because the light from the stars is pinpoint and is not affected by the aperture, that way your sky will be darker and you'll be able to have a longer exposure with more contrast.

you may already know all that, sorry if so. just interested to see what other people are trying.

This is a good shot, if you're interested in some long exposure tips this months issue of Photo Life has a great article. One question, How did you avoid noise with the digital camera. I have been trying some long exposures with my D100 but I lose too much quality. I'm relegated to using film when I go out at night.
