This little tree in the middle of cement and iron construction just weirded me out. I personally find this composition and abstraction surreal.

You see what I saw. A lone, small, fragile tree surrounded by metal,

asphalt, and cars. I personally found it very confining and

threatening to the little tree, seeing no real future or promise for it.

I decided to include more road, and split the shot into two sections -

the road and the wall with the tree. The square and angular lines are

also very technical and anti-nature like.

Let me know what you think about the composition, tones, and subject

matter!

I promise I will take some time to view your porfolio and leave you a

comment / critique, too!

I would have preferred a tighter zoom into the tree for balance. Nice colours and exposure, and including the double yellow lines gives a nice 'underline' to the photo. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your comments! I sincerely appreciate them and your high ratings.

I wish people who give 2/2 or 3/3 would leave some note too. If the photograph was so bad in their taste - perhaps a tip on how to improve?

For me it's perfect. The space around makes more room for thoughts, so I wouldn't crop. Very well done. Cheers. PS

This shot is very graphic and colourful (but not busy). The whitish tree stands out perfectly from the red background. I first noticed it on the favorite photos page of another PN member. You did a good job in composition. But I'm still debating with myself if the double yellow "underlining" lines serve as a bonus or distraction. Anyhow, a great shot. I'll have to look around more carefully on the street next time :o)

Enjoyed your portfolio too. You're very versatile. Keep it up!

It's another depressing image and another well done. You could take out the double yellows and still have avery clever image. I like it your way. It looks very stubborn. The colours are well controlled.

All the best,

Dougie

Great use of line here - the painted diagonal line works especially well to draw you in. Also love the way the tree stands out. Nicely seen.

A truly excellent picture. I hate to interfere with an artist's creativity, but it would be interesting to see also with the tree just slightly to the right of the frame.

I like the shot But I'd prefer to see a shot with just the starkness of the tree against the metal background without the tarmac in the foreground. It gives to me a better feeling of isolation in its surroundings

Striking use of geometry here!  And the poor little tree...  It is as if nature was juxtaposed with the man made objects and that tree is giving Mother Nature the last little bit of hope for any kind of existance in this area.  Very cool!
