kenneth_logan 0 Posted January 12, 2005 This is a very striking image. One-quarter second seems quite daring as shutter speed for this particular portrait. At such a slow speed, I would like to understand how the blown hairs--or many of them--seem to be not moving. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 12, 2005 Thanks everyone for the compliments - you haven't seen my bad pictures! BTW- the 1/4s speed is correct - I have strobes and a hotlight to get the blur. The strobes stop the action and make everything sharp that it hits. Things the hotlight hits gets blurred at that speed. But a great player - you can't get this confident, proud look while playing correctly without being an incredible violinist like Tatiana. I would like to find more extraordinary musicians to shoot in Texas. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted February 26, 2005 Hi Mike, excellent photo, awesome. It is by far the best violinist photo I have seen so far on photo.net I am a violinist, violist, and violinmaker. Fortunately I am just beginning with photography, so I hope I can continue to learn from people like you! All the best, Ben. Link to comment
