mottershead 0 Posted October 6, 2001 This has a quiet peaceful feel. Perhaps too much so, to the point of being boring. This type of black and white photograph requires more sharp detail and fine tonal variations. Also, the sky at upper right could use more detail: if there is detail in the original, perhaps you could burn it in more. It is good to think about this anytime you need the stroked border to see where the edge of the photograph is. Link to comment
gauthier 0 Posted October 7, 2001 Brian is right about the lack of detail in the sky, but of course you can't burn more a chrome in the darkroom! Velvia produces fantastic colors, but every desaturated shot I saw on Photo.net lacked contrast. Better keep Velvia for awesome color shots and use B&W with adequate filtration (green, red...) for equally awesome B&W pictures. Link to comment
