I love their expressions - particularly Dewey's. How long did it take you to get back into their good books for taking the photo instead of letting them in?

Dewey was the runt of the litter who nearly died of a chest infection in her first few days of life, except my flatmates and I revived her with eucalyptus oil to clear her airways, a hairdryer to keep her warm, an eyedropper with milk and chicken antibiotics mixed together and a ticking clock to represent her mother's heart (we'd read about that somewhere). I had been given little hope by the vet that she would live. She was so small that I had taken her to his surgery in a wooden chess-box, lined with cotton wool. The intensive care went on for a week until she could feed herself... and she never looked back. I'll never forget coming home to see how she was faring, expecting her to be dead and cold every day, hardly daring to look, yet finally seeing her feeding and padding at her mother's breast for more and more milk, making up for lost time. This was one of the happiest days of my life and saving her was one of the few things I have ever done that I am unreservedly proud of: saving her precious life.

What I liked about these cats was that, no matter what I did to them, they stuck with me through thick and thin. Not that I did anything bad, but sometimes I pursued a "laugh" perhaps a little bit too long.

In this case the dog had been restrained by its owner, so there was no danger. I love the way that Dewey (whose two brothers were Huey and Louie) is hearing backwards, not daring to turn anything around but her ears. She was a fabulous little cat, like a kid's drawing of a cat: two fat circles, two triangles (for ears) and a tail. She is sorely missed for her eccentricity and her motherhood.

Nice bit of work Tony.

I truly regret only having memories of many of my cats. This photo sure got a laugh out of me.

Thanks for sharing!

As the years go by, more and more often I find myself digging through piles of old photos looking for an occasional picture of my old and long gone furry friends. I surely hope that the Big Mousehunt's crop of mice is luscious for these cute fellows. That kitchen door between the now dead cats and us is quite symbolic in a way.
