andreas fischer 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Please read this. IMPORTANT !!! - This is a benefit Auction for the people suffering in asia by the tsunami disaster. - Use the comments for to bit. Highest bidder gets a print 30x40 of this picture AFTER he did donate the sum he did bit to a official helping organisation like unicef, red cross... - Donation must be done after the end of this auction...wich will be 31 th january midnight (central european time). - The money dont goes to me...it goes from the winner of this auction directly to a help organisation...and he gets the print from me for a copy of the donation receipt. - I will pay for the print and the shipping. - ------------------------- Because this is done to collect money for people in need and not for selling pictures of buying cheap pictures ... the minimum bit is dollar 150 ( this is lower then the regular price of the picture) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- why do i do this? someone did the same on a german photographer- community...and many joined him. After some few days they got more then 15.000 dollar together. This is a great help to the people in need in asia. I just hope that here on photo.net many will join me and do the same...auctionate your pictures....bid...donate....lets help --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I did upload this picture already a while ago for comments and ratings...i reloaded it just for the auction because i hope many will join....if u want that many will see this picture u can rate it...its up to u Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted January 6, 2005 MORE TSUNAMI SELF PROMOTION GIMMICKRY??? Now I suppose everyone will tag their photonet uploads and critique requests with disaster relief and other emotional appeals. Link to comment
walterh 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Great idea and well thought. The way you propose the direct flow of money makes certain that you do not benefit from it. I just looked at your portfolio. The quality of the images in your portfolio and this one here does not strike me as a "very obvious" way to cheat on the rating system. I may be a fool to usually take a good intention at face value - but even if this would not be correct i would be the first to suggest that PN should officially offer pictures of the week for sale in exchange to aid people in desperate need. Anyway i give it a 7 for originality and an A6 for the poor cropping of the coast ^^ Link to comment
darrin james 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Faith, your unjustified and bitter attacks on people trying to help in a very needy cause have prompted me to report your antics to the administrators. Your behaviour and narrow mindness is not what a community is all about. Link to comment
andreas fischer 0 Posted January 6, 2005 @ faith....i DO hope others will also auctionate their pictures...its not a gimick @ Walter...i took a picture wich is already in my folder and rated very high....so, no one needs to worry that i am looking for rates.... but i do not understand why people rate it this time so low....so few people see this auction now :-( i also did send a mail to photo.net asking if they can create us a folder wehre others can auctionate their pictures...the forum also would be a good place...i opened a thread there please see also the forum thread click to read(thread was deleted,it was the worng forum, a non archived one )@ all...i realy hope that u also think about auctionate a picture of yours...in a german community people did collect a lot of donations that way Link to comment
todd. 0 Posted January 6, 2005 I am completely disgusted with the response to what I thought was a pretty noble idea. I don't even know what to say... Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted January 6, 2005 It is a noble idea, but strictly forbidden by Photo.net - no auctions. It's on the Terms of Use. You'll need to get permission in writing from Photo.net, I think. I like many of your images more. Why did you choose this one? Link to comment
andreas fischer 0 Posted January 6, 2005 @ Christopher...i did write to photonet about this auction...hoping they even create a folder where others can join and auctionate pictures...i dont auctionate for me...the money goes directly to a help organisation, i 6think this is different from what was meant in the termswhy i did choose this picture? i like it, i think it fits...the airplane at the wall could make u remember niceley that u helped sending some planes down there its one of my highest rated pictures here, and i think many people would klike it i did hope it gets rated same high as the first time and many will see it, when its shown in the tops i just hope others will join...bit, and or auctionate, and i hope photonet will held us Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted January 7, 2005 I really don't see any self-promotion here, but do see some misplaced emotions...This disaster should affect us all in a more positive manner. Right now our shop has not heard from one of the Engineers who was in Indonesia with family... Link to comment
andreas fischer 0 Posted January 8, 2005 it is realy a pitty that no one else wanted to join and auctionate a picture the thread in the forum is already closed and i dont know if i should continue to try to find people here who would like to help ...sad result Link to comment
