thomas_collins1 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Beautiful. The solitary leaf at the forefront of the image anchors the viewer as if they are standing right there. Nice textures throughout and exposure is super. Now where are all those tourists? Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 7, 2005 I think the vertical format works better for me here. I can't see the cougar though. Link to comment
thomas_collins1 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Cougar! I'm ready. I've got my bells, whistle, air horn and mace ready for the encounter. If that fails I always make sure I bring someone along with me that is slower! ;-) Link to comment
johnorban 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Hi, Hanna. It's been a while. This is one of those shots I feel I can walk right into. Very emotionally evocative. Technically superb. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Well thankyou gentlemen. I can't tell you how much safer I feel with you all here. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted January 7, 2005 I can see his eyes. . . . Hanna, the leaves make this one, all the way from the one in the foreground to the ones along the side of the road to the ones on the trees in the background that highlight the trunks of the evergreens. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Hanna, I think this B&W gives more of the feeling I was looking for in the color version.... Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted April 17, 2005 As everyone has observed, the foreground leaf plays a pivotal role here. I think also the bright patch of leaves vertically above the foreground leaf effectively mirror it, and this is what gives the shot its harmony. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted April 17, 2005 Leigh, thanks for your observation. While the leaf was a conscious inclusion, the complementary highlight wasn't, although it probably played a part in what attracted me. Your comment led me to your portfolio, which has brought me back to the reality of just how much room there is for effort in my photography. I look forward to a closer and longer look at your excellent landscape images. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 10, 2006 I really like this BW as it draws my eye into the image... I really like the leaf in the forfront... and scattered on the side of the road trailing up to the distance...just lovely.... sooo pretty.... Link to comment
