christiankiely 0 Posted January 4, 2005 This is in the Barker Dam area... don't expect it to last very long, it is just flooded due to all of the rain we've had here in SoCal in the past week. I have never been to Barker Dam before, but there were some locals saying things like "haven't seen it this full in 20 years", etc. Link to comment
mark lucas 0 Posted January 4, 2005 Superb exposure and execution, but perhaps just a little too much to see in one photograph? The foreground, in my opinion, instead of leading the eye to the mountain, fights with it for domination. However, still a beautiful picture! Link to comment

michaelseewald 237 Posted January 4, 2005 This has a lot going for it. Great light and depth of field, no boring areas created from bland, blank skies, etc.. One similar to the POW this week (1.1.05) in that it has a strong foreground and background. But this one has virtually no 'middle ground', whereas the POW one has too much! (I like this one way more, but this is of no consequence.) Here, had you moved in a little closer to your beautiful foreground plants you would have given yourself that little bit of middle ground that would have separated them a little more. See where the rock pile reflection almost touches the foreground plant? That would have had a dash more separation, eliminating the 'tension point' created there. Balance is a little 'right heavy', as the bigger elements start to stack-up over on that side. It is something to try and notice on our compositions before making them, so we can correct them if possible. Nice job otherwise. Blessings. Link to comment
harnstrom1 0 Posted January 5, 2005 It is very interesting and amusing to let the eye follow the composition. Original and very beautiful. Excellent photography. Link to comment
gav_davies 0 Posted January 5, 2005 Absolutely stunning photo. Great composition, colour, lighting, detail. Everything about this photo is fantastic, probably the best I've seen for a while. Has to be a 7/7. Only negative would be - I wish I had taken this photo ;0) Gav Link to comment
davidpemberton 0 Posted January 5, 2005 Brilliant shot - sharp, composition, DOF, light, colour - love this. Oh for a sunlit day here in grey UK. Excellent. Regards, David Link to comment
ian cameron 0 Posted January 5, 2005 The light and the visual echo in your composition is quite extraordinary but I just wonder if perhaps your depth of field was compromised beyond it's limits. The background seems a wee bit soft to me. Still adore it though. Link to comment
christiankiely 0 Posted January 5, 2005 Ian, This shot was taken at f22 on a 20mm lens @ hyperfocal, so everything should be in focus. Seems to be in the full version on my monitor. Link to comment
