Transient Light

Sunrises on Glacier National Park are truly beautiful, but this cold day in early July was an exception. Sunrise on that day was beyond anything that the words can describe...I hope you will agree. All feedback welcome.

Wow! Great light and the color contrast, yellow to blue, doesn't get much better.

Dont think we have that colourful sunrise here in Sydney... Must be amazing to actually be in that place and appreciate the beauty.

It must be a dream; beauty such as this doesn't really exist any more, does it? The silhouettes at the bottom are great, but I would possibly remove the ones on the right. Regards.

Terrific shot Jay! The light and color are incredible. As someone already stated...it pays to get out early (or is this late sunset?). It's probably just the shorline but there seems to be a very slight counterclockwise tilt.

Impressive image, a landscape expectacular perfectly caught. I am charmed with the light on these mountains and such a dramatic sky with these colors.

There has some type of digital retouch the sky????.

On Transient Light: This photo was taken between just as the Apenglow was fading, but before the first golden rays of sun were about to hit the mountains. This stage of light last no more then few minutes and can sometimes appear rather uninteresting as we wait for the mountains to light up with the golden rays of sun. The progression of the colors at sunrise is as follow: Alpenglow, Transient Light, First Light and Gold Rush. No color filters were used for this photograph.

Laurie: It was sunrise...very early as day in northern Montana are very long in the early July (we were on location at 4:30AM) :-).

Jesus: These kinds of landscape shots are hard to color balance both intense sunlight and deep shadows are present at the same time. This particular shot was processed using daylight color balance and hence the deep blue sky.
