I took this picture as part of a series of Boston skylines at dawn. I took about two sunrises a week from the same spot on Memorial Drive in Cambridge for about two months. This was actually my first (lucky) attempt. It was also my first experience with 4x5 Velvia. It was taken at f/16 for 8 minutes (notice the star trail)with no filtration. The chrome was scanned with no alterations & accurately reflects the original.

Extremely beautiful colors. Sunset not an original subject. Star trail slightly distracting but not really avoidable without using a smaller aperture. Well composed.

What a wonderful shot. I think I'm going off Velvia in my old age though, it's fabulously sharp film but the colour saturation is excessive. If it were me I'd be tempted to edit the star trail out in Photoshop but I suppose from a certain point of view it's a feature. It looks like a scratch though if you don't know what it is. But these are v. minor points, congratulations on a wonderful shot!

That's what sunrise looks like. :) This is an amazing photo. I've shot many Boston sunsets from a similar location but sunrise is not something often seen from that perspective. Fantastic!

Congratulations Eric, as others have pointed out this is so far the best night skyline on photo.net ... Someone e-mail me if you've seen a better one! :)
